Design Challenge: The client wanted to refresh and open up a four-year-old web site that was cluttered, dark, and too narrow to allow them to showcase a wide range of content.

Solution: More than anything else, what Campus Progress needed was a more open, readable site that better showcased a wide range of content. We create story pages that allowed for bigger, bolder visuals that would deliver stories in a more interesting way. We reworked the navigation and the site structure to make it easier for users to find popular and recent content. We worked to make it easier to promote their events and activism campaigns.

In terms of style, I started with a wider page and a design that allowed for more white space. We cleaned up the typography to simplify the range of typefaces and styled and all for better readability. I lightened up the color scheme and simplified the logo design to get back to their core colors, which we then used throughout the site design to reinforce their organizational brand.

After designing the site and getting it live, I worked with the organization to establish a style guide and provide tips on creating effective visuals and graphics as they moved forward.
