Animation: How Not to Form a Union

Design Challenge: Center for American Progress Action Fund wanted to explain the barriers and challenges faced by workers who want to form a union. They were looking for a way to use narrative and animation to explain the complex problems in a way that would be understandable to a broad audience.

Solution: We developed a script, refined it, and came up with the visual storyboard to bring it to life. We went with a simple, iconic animation style to tell the story with a little bit of humor. We also worked on trimming down the details and storyline to the bare essentials so that the final product would be less than two minutes. The final product drew a lot of traffic and was circulated widely among allied groups and organizations. It helped focus the argument for many legislative advocates and allow them to show the animation as a way to quickly and clearly explain the problems for workers.
