Web Ad: Bush’s Dream Court
Design Challenge: People for the America wanted a small banner ad to convey the idea that a George Bush re-election in 2004 would have lasting, dangerous ramifications for the Supreme Court. Much of their messaging talked about Bush nominating three or four justices “in the mold of Anontin Scalia.”
Solution: To this point, much of PFAW's messaging on this issue had been heavy, somber, and menacing. Until they came to me, all their concepts were just words and text with heavy overtones of pending doom. I suggested we mix it up with this add and add a little humor to the mix. I only had 9k to work with, so I was very limited with what I could do in terms of image quality and length of animation… But I came up with this ad, which ran on a number of high-profile news progressive news sites and was very effective in drawing attention to their event and boosting the traffic to the PFAW.org site.
