Electronic Holiday Card

Design Challenge: Faced with high costs involved with printing and shipping holiday cards to clients and vendors, Holland & Knight was interested in developing a cost-effective, customizable, fast-loading animated electronic greeting to send to clients and friends of the firm.

Solution: As requested, I adapted the base artwork from the firm’s printed holiday card to an animated version with music and sound. Flash was somewhat new in 2002, but proved to be the perfect media for the job. The “snowman” electronic holiday card proved to be very popular and quickly became the preference of many staff and lawyers over sending traditional printed cards. In addition, the reduced printing and mailing costs saved the firm $30,000 - $40,000. Perhaps most importantly, the e-mailed greetings prompted quick replies from thousands of clients, helping to re-establish and strengthen business relationships.
